‘Spunky Shades’ is some straight-up, real deal, grade-A house music from new player on the block, Avon Stringer, taken from the debut E.P. ‘Gangsta Strategy’ on Chuck Daniels’ exemplary underground house label ‘Sampled Detroit’.
Fans of another Detroit legend, Moodyman, would be familiar with the classic riff ringing through the wire on ‘Spunky Shades’.
On the original, tight production & hypnotic grooves lead straight to the dancefloor, while #1 Beatport House chart remixer, Federico Scavo lifts the tech house pump. Mind Electric goes main room & Melbourne’s Chardy, in his new deeper house guise Holmes John, also keeps it locked on the dancefloor and rammed with game
Canadian party starters Azari & III’s invigorating self-titled debut is out now and features a propulsive, fluid slab of classic house energy fired directly at the hips.
Every layer of Azari & III’s album is dripping with a sense of sordid, melted stress. Case in point is their latest single Reckless With Your Love, a re-visioned acid house ballad brought to life in the nihilistic nightclub. It’s a late night body mover captured with drugs, skulls and axe wielding girls, a lesson in how to frame the face of Toronto’s finest.
Sounding like a combination of New York ’79, Chicago in ’86 and the world in the future, Canadian quartet ‘Azari & III’ are one of the most exciting new directions in dance music. NME have already named it the best house album of the year, and we’re inclined to agree, now its time for you to make up your own mind.
To accompany ‘Reckless With Your Love’, Azari have a new video, directed by George Vale and remixes from Riva Starr, Tiga, DJ Sneak & Aston Shuffle.
See them live on tour with Future Music Festival in March.
Already making a hot fuss on floors thanks to the Dyro & Pauls Paris remixes, Kevin Doherty & Amba Shepherd‘s “Lifeline” serves up round two of the remixes.
New rubs from Rocket Pimp, Dave Winnel, Matthew Macinate, plus two tidy dubs (Dyro & After Hours) makes this a serious contender.
Kaskade, ‘AKA America’s Best DJ‘, is releasing his broody Skylar Grey collab “Room For Happiness” as the next single and one of the most talked about tracks from his latest album Fire & Ice.
Super-talented singer-songwriter Skylar Grey wears melancholy like the rest of us wear socks but singer keep her sunny side up on “Room For Happiness” demonstrating once again her success as a standout feature artist.
With the original being such an amazing smooth track with melodic big room elements remix duties don’t come lightly and stepping up to challenge Feenixpawl, fresh of their current #1 Beatport success with Ivan Gough, are proving their worth, of a hand picking by the US star. As too Parisian Gregori Klosman, bringing the bass to this beautiful track making it into the ultimate banger. Mysto & Pizzi, Pixl & Pixel Cheese, all serve up massive sounds ensuring this is frosty dance banger not to be missed!
Celebrated producer Jono Fernandez ignites 2012 with another testament to his superb studio skills, with the hook laden, anthemic vocal gem, ‘Lights Are Fading’. A captivating mix of heartfelt hooks, club paced momentum and impassioned vocals from Twin Atoms.
The raw power of the original is matched by the strength of the headlining cast of remixers on the package, Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl, Bass Kleph, Christian Luke & Marlo. All heavily & individually impacting on global level and all delivering on this blockbuster tune.
Grammy-nominated producer, Morgan Page‘s latest offering, a sensational collaboration with Canada’s Tegan and Sara, is being heralded as one of the most exciting tracks off his highly anticipated 2012 studio album. The track, Body Work, exemplifies Page’s skill for seamlessly combining big-room tracks with just the right touch of blissful radio-ready pop and with those unmistakable T & S vocals he creates magic.
Lazy Rich transforms a swell of proggy synths into a simple five-note electro melody that adds a moody feel to the song along with an earth-quaking drop, straddling that progressive/electro line perfectly!
Richard Dinsdale‘s re-interpretation offers up a chugging house track that builds steadily into an ethereal breakdown; balancing perfectly against the deeper tones of the rest of the song. One part acid sounding, and two parts wonky, this flys!
