Leftfield – one of electronic music’s greatest acts – have announced the release of their third album, Alternative Light Source, the follow up to the Mercury Prize nominated Leftism (1995) and Rhythm and Stealth (1999).
Throughout the 90s Leftfield were untouchable live and on record, starting a snowball rolling for British dance music which saw them joined by outfits like Orbital, Underworld and the Dust/Chemical Brothers in breaking electronic music from the underground, onto the stage and into the charts.
Alternative Light Source is due for release on 5 June 2015 via Infectious Music and Liberator Music. The record contains collaborations with Channy Leaneagh (Poliça), Ofei, Tunde Adebimpe (TV On The Radio) and Sleaford Mods.
The first song to be released from the album, ‘Universal Everything‘ is a seven minute techno assault that is at once immediately Leftfield and also immediately now. Remix action thanks to Audion.
