There are few tracks that seem to easily sit between Club and Mainstream Dance Music these days. Enter Chicco Secci & Fabio B‘s beautiful ‘Crosses’ – a brilliant and inspired reworking of the Jose Gonzalez 2006 hit of the same name that combines elements of Deep House, Techno and World Music with an accessible Pop feel.
Following his latest releases for Spinnin’ and Toolroom, Eelke Kleijn takes on “Crosses” and injects a substantial dose of punchy drums, fat bassline and driving synths that dramatically changes the mood of the original into a Deep House monster.
Next up is the ARIA Club Chart topping Silversix, who offers a smooth and emotive take on the original. With a bass line almost reminiscent of Bookashade circa 2007, the Silversix mix is a must for serious music lovers.
Yet another ARIA Club Chart topper and Central Station native Archie adds an almost tech-funk flavour to the package. It’s the snappy drums and warm bass-line that grab you from the first listen and keep the momentum through-out his remix.
Rounding out the package is Ben Morris with his “gets deeper” interpretation, while local young guns Pantheon & Colour Castle keep things deep and groovy with their rework.
‘Crosses’ is best served outdoors, which is why you can expect to hear this all Festival Season in Australia. Lovely and timeless, this is a breath of fresh air.
