Fresh from his Pete Tong supported remix of Lost Frequencies’ “Are You With Me” comes Cropper‘s debut release on Tinted Records.
“Forever” is a hybrid of disparate-but-complimentary moods. Dark, crawling bass spreads out across the house track like stretched molasses, evoking the kind of late-night dread that comes with finding yourself alone in an unfamiliar neighborhood long after last call. Then there’s a warmth to this low-end rumble that prevents “Forever” from holding you at arm’s length as it twists and turns over six minutes. This bittersweet ache is given yet another dimension thanks to the sampled vocals looped throughout the track, which are simultaneously defiant and vulnerable: “I need a man, don’t need a boy/ Don’t play with me, ’cause I’m not a toy.” It reads like a middle-finger but sounds more like a challenge.
Australian producer Nicky Night Time lends his impeccable production to this monster jam. The remix is a rework of lush pianos and rolling bass grooves that takes inspiration from 90s pop and soul to create yet another another blistering & anthemic house track.
