The tropical house movement has been one of immense interest in the electronic community of late, but its rise has been typical of any emerging sub-genre: pioneers popularise the sound before carbon copies butcher it into oblivion. Fortunately, Klingande fits uniquely in a post-copy space: the talented Frenchman has taken the genre to new heights, incorporating clever vocals, unique sounds and instruments that others attempting to make the laid-back style have not yet taken advantage of.
With his first single “Jubel“, Klingande stamped his mark on the scene and proved that his sound spanned much further than clubland after hitting #1 in 10 countries and #3 on both the Australian and UK Singles Charts. The single went on to become one of 2014’s biggest electronic releases and will no doubt go down as a ‘classic’ to be spun for years to come.
Following on from success like this is always tricky, yet after winning over a whole array of new fans during his sets on the Future Music 15 tour last month, Klingande returns with his anticipated 2nd single, “RIVA (Restart The Game)”. Although it retains some tropical percussion as well, the atmosphere is vastly different from the rebelliousness in “Jubel”, which goes to show his versatility as a producer.
The first remix to surface comes courtesy of Australia’s very own L’Tric, the new side project for Ivan Gough & Sgt. Slick. This is their first official remix and follows on from their anthemic solo debut “This Feeling” which is currently causing a major stir around the globe since it premiered in Pete Tong’s radio 1 a few weeks back.
